MercyMe, TobyMac, Casting Crowns Come Together on Stage for Hurricane Survivors (Video)
Dozens of Christian music artists hit the stage on Wednesday at the Verizon Theatre Grand Prairie near Dallas, Texas, for a Convoy of Hope benefit concert for hurricane survivors.
Night of Hope was hosted by Air1 Radio and because it sold out by Monday, the entire concert was broadcast live on Convoy of Hope's Facebook page.
On Thursday, Convoy Of Hope took to its social media to thank all of the guest performers.
"We are so thankful for all the amazing artists who came out to the Night of Hope concert last night! Thanks to MercyMe Music, TobyMac, Casting Crowns, for KING & COUNTRY, Zach Williams, Natalie Grant, Danny Gokey, Phil Wickham, Josh Wilson, Chonda Pierce, Laura Story Music, Jason Roy of Building 429, Tauren Wells, Moriah Peters, Chris August, Jason Crabb, Wayne Watson, Plumb and John Tibbs for coming together to help hurricane survivors," it wrote.
"Night of Hope is a testament to how Christian radio, its listeners and the influence of its artists can come together to serve those impacted by disaster in an extraordinary way," Randy Chase, vice president of programming for Air1 Radio said in a statement shared with The Christian Post.
"We are thankful for Air1 and all of these great artists coming together to help hurricane survivors in need," says Hal Donaldson, president of Convoy of Hope. "Because of partnerships like this, we are able to give hope to those who need it most."
Hurricane Harvey hit Texas last month and left dozens killed and hundreds of thousands of homes damaged. The flooding that resulted from Harvey made it one of the worst weather disasters in U.S. history. Texas Governor Greg Abbott estimated the cost of damage from Harvey to be $150 billion to $180 billion.
Convoy of Hope, is a faith-based organization that was founded in 1994 with an aim to "feed the world." Convoy of Hope was among the first responders for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. To date, the organization has distributed more than 5 million pounds of relief supplies.
