Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy Secretly Together? Meryl Says They Have a 'Life-Long Friendship'
"Dancing with the Stars" is about to go into its 20th season, yet fans of the show can't forget the undeniable chemistry between season 18 champions, Olympic gold ice dancer Meryl Davis and DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Since week four of season 18, rumors of the two dating began, and those smitten with the pair instantly dedicated numerous websites and Tumblr pages as they went on "Maksyl" watch.
The two reunited for the dancefloor at last December's "Shall We Dance on Ice" and "Sway." At a meet and greet to promote "Shall We Dance on Ice," fans braved the cold to witness the Maks and Meryl magic, and they were not disappointed as the two appeared to be very affectionate with one another.
Lately, Maksyl sightings have been thin, but those who are keeping the idea alive have taken to following the stars on their social media accounts to see if any pictures of the two or any proof of communication between them have come up.
One particular post on Chmerkovskiy's Instagram sparked a renewed interest on the pair's relationship. On Jan. 2, the pro dancer posted a picture of him and Davis hugging. He captioned it, "Happy Birthday @meryldavis. I don't possess a vocabulary sufficient enough to express my love, respect, and admiration for you. Have an amazing day…you MORE than deserve it!"
On Jan. 17, Davis took to her Instagram account to greet her DWTS partner a happy birthday. The picture shows the two of them smiling, with Chmerkovskiy's arms wrapped around her.
"So much gratitude for this beautiful soul and our special friendship. Happiest of birthdays to @maksimc you're easy to celebrate!" she wrote.
The latest photo of the pair was posted by Chmerkovskiy on Feb, 21, and he wrote, "Got to see this one today!"
Though many are speculating that the two are secretly dating, both Chmerkovskiy and Davis have repeatedly insisted that they are only good friends. In an interview with Glamour, Davis talked about her relationship with the pro dancer.
"We obviously became incredibly close during the show and sort of coming away from that experience where we no longer spending every day together, it was interesting to sort of continue to grow our friendship in a different capacity," said Davis.
"I absolutely love him, and he's an incredible person. We have this friendship that I have no doubt in my mind is a life-long friendship. Getting a chance to know him away from training for 'Dancing with the Stars', I think we've gotten a chance to know each other in a different way, which of course just makes you closer," she added.
