'Metal Gear Solid V' News: Game's Last Activity Was Definitive Experience; Creator Moved on to 'Death Stranding'

The Metal Gear Solid series is arguably one of the most massive franchises in gaming history. With "Metal Gear Solid V" being the last one being released, there is no other news heard about it besides a combination of chapters.

The last known activity for the game was The Definitive Experience, in which the prologue, main story and a bunch of downloadable content (DLC) were combined. It brings together both "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes" and "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" plus DLC missions and items, all of which pretty much wrap up the whole lore.

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions were released last Oct. 11, 2016 for $49.99, while the Steam version came two days after at $39.99. Information has been scarce after that, and quite frankly, nothing new has been coming about lately.

It may have something to do with its creator, Hideo Kojima, leaving Konami and the franchise as a whole. It can be recalled that Kojima left the company in Dec. 15, 2015 as per Japan's Nikkei, and apparently it wasn't amicable. There was friction in that year and eventually the inevitable separation came. After that, no updates happened to the game.

If anything, Kojima left with a good mark for the title, and it was even the best-selling game in the series, Game Rant has learned. He started the stealth genre with the franchise and continues to be a legend to this day, with other titles take inspiration from his work.

As for Kojima, he has very much moved on and is working on what could possibly be yet another revolutionary game with "Death Stranding." In an exclusive interview with BBC Newsbeat, he mentioned that it will be a unique experience for gamers in which they can easily get into it and then suddenly realize its distinctiveness. As to how he pulls it off, that will be something worth waiting for.
