Metallica Helps FBI Find Killer With PSA (VIDEO)
Metallica is helping the FBI to catch a killer suspected of murdering a young woman in Virginia in 2009. The heavy metal band produced a public service announcement encouraging anyone with information to contact police.
The band got involved in part because the victim was last seen during a concert put on by Metallica and has been actively participating in the case for the past three years.
The public service announcement was uploaded on YouTube and the bands lead singer James Hetfield encourages anyone with information to come forward. In addition to the video, police created sketches of the suspect, which have been placed up and down the east coast at bus station and rest stops, according to AP.

"Remember, any information — no matter how small you might think it is — could be that crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case," Hetfield said during the PSA. The video can also be seen on an FBI website created for the case.
The ongoing investigation involves Morgan Harrington, a 20-year-old who vanished after a concert in Charlottesville, Va., back in October 2009. Her remains were found three months later about 10 miles from the concerts venue.
The FBI has previously stated that the suspect is also sought in a 2005 sexual assault case in northern Virginia after authorities matched DNA from both crime scenes to the suspect.
Gil Harrington, Morgan's mother, explained that she and her husband are positive that this new effort will lead to the arrest of those responsible.
"Our big motivation now is to catch this man and help save the next girl because he is a predator at the top of his game," Harrington said.
The Jefferson Area Crime Stoppers has put up a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Metallica joined the effort by offering an additional $50,000 reward, according to WHSV.
"To have abduction, rape and murder of your child is an obscenity. It is an abomination," Gil Harrington said.
"The band reacted to that right away. It was a matter of days before James Hetfield was on the phone to Dan saying, 'As a father, I am outraged.'"
