Mexico vs. Brazil is 1-0 to Mexico at half time in the men's soccer London 2012 Olympic final. The football match has been a tight contest in the first half as both sides attempt to take the gold medal. Coming into the final some had criticized Brazil for their lack of concentration and this was apparent again right from the start today as it took Mexico just 57 seconds to score and give them an early advantage. Mexico's Peralta was the player to capitalize on some slack defending from the Brazilians, and his goal sent his team into a frenzied celebration. However, with 89 minutes still remaining their work was far from done.

Brazil immediately looked rattled and Mexico controlled the opening exchanges and dominated possession. However, as expected Brazil started to come back into the game and after 20 minutes were starting to create a few more openings. But Mexico's organized defense stayed firm and the Brazilian players started to express their clear frustration by the half hour point.

On the few occasions that Brazil did manage to create a clear opening they wasted their chances and Jose Corona came to the rescue.

The second half will no doubt increase into a frantic pace quickly and Brazil become increasingly desperate to claim the equalizer. They have never won the men's soccer Olympic title and will see this as a wasted opportunity of they cannot convert their final appearance into a gold medal. They invested a lot into the tournament, naming arguably the strongest squad out of all the nations entering, with many others opting to use the Olympic tournament to show off their young talent and fringe senior players.

Leandro Damiao will be vital for Brazil in the second half. His talents are well known and he has been rumored to have been chased by both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. The Brazilian has scored 6 of the team's 15 goals in the Olympic tournament to date, and will be hoping to get onto the score sheet in the second half.
