Mi Pad 2 Rumors: Will Xiaomi's Latest Tablet Offer Dual Boot?
Xiaomi, the Chinese mobile device manufacturer, is said to be unveiling a few more devices before the end of the year. According to a report in Android Headlines, the company has yet to announce its latest flagship device, the Mi 5, and if rumors are true, there may also be a new tablet in the making. The new tablet is reportedly the successor of the Mi Pad, which was released in June 2014.
Rumors about a Mi Pad 2 were recently boosted by a set of leaked images of the alleged device. Based on the photos, the device looks like it's the same size as the Nexus 10, with a display size of 9.7 inches or 10.1 inches. It also appears that the device might rock an all-metal body, consistent with the current trend among new smartphones.
According to another report in Tech Times, the upcoming tablet is said to be capable of a dual boot. Based on a leak on Chinese website Mobile Dad, it is rumored that the tablet can run on either the new Windows 10 mobile platform or Android OS. The Android OS, however, is not specified, with the report saying that it can either be the latest iteration of Android Lollipop or the soon to be released Android Marshmallow.
While the Android Headlines report dismisses this rumor as merely that, the Tech Times report noted that this is not the first time a dual boot device has been attempted. Asus tried its hand with dual boot with the Transformer Book Duet, but the device never materialized because of supposed opposition from Microsoft and Google.
It is also rumored to have an Intel processor under the hood. Among the features it will supposedly have include a 2,560 by 1,440 pixels per inch resolution, 3GB or 4GB of RAM to pair off with the fast processor and a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera.
