Not one person stopped.

The victim, a homeless man who was believed to be sleeping before the attack occurred, was assaulted by Eugene, stripped of his clothes, and then beaten. Eugene, who was also naked, then proceeded to eat the man's face alive.

The victim, Ronald Poppo, was identified on Wednesday and remains in critical condition at a Miami hospital. According to a number of reports, Poppo's eyes, ears, and nose were completely ripped from his face and allegedly consumed by Eugene while the victim remained conscious.

Officials have suspected that Eugene was under the influence of drugs when the attack occurred. A "cocaine psychosis" induced state was first suspected however officials now believe that "bath salts" may be at fault. Eugene's family members have defended him, saying that he "was not a face-eating zombie monster" according to Mail Online.

"The Rudy we know was a nice gentleman with a warm smile and funny. He's not like that at all," former classmate Victoria Forte told The Miami Herald. "We are going to do our part as his friends to not let him go down like this."
