Miami Dolphins Offensive Tackle Laremy Tunsil's Knee Injury Not Serious, Could Play on Thursday
It seems that Laremy Tunsil's knee injury not as bad as initially thought.
Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase confirmed that tests have shown that Tunsil has avoided serious injury to his left knee and he seemed optimistic about the left tackle's chances of playing this Thursday when they take on the Baltimore Ravens.
"We are going to get through the next couple days. More positive than we initially thought. We were concerned. We were thinking the worst. We have a good chance he will be OK," Gase said, via the Miami Herald.
Tunsil sustained the injury midway through the third quarter of their 31–28 victory over the New York Jets last Sunday. He was a limited participant at practice on Tuesday.
Backup offensive tackle Jesse Davis came in to replace Tunsil and he struggled at first before he finally got into a rhythm.
"Early in the game wasn't easy for him. Once he realized no one is coming in to save you, he got real comfortable and really do a good job of finishing every play. When you are spot playing it's hard to get in a great rhythm. He got in a rhythm toward the end," Gase said of Davis, according to the Miami Herald.
Davis should get the start at left tackle if Tunsil sits out Thursday's game against the Ravens. He has also lined up at left guard and right tackle this season.
Meanwhile, defensive end Andre Branch was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice after he sustained a groin injury during last Sunday's game. Veteran defensive end William Hayes and rookie Charles Harris should see a significant increase in playing time if Branch is unavailable this Thursday.
Left guard Anthony Steen's status for Thursday's game is also up in the air as he continues to deal with a toe injury.
