Miami Dolphins Reinstate Linebacker Lawrence Timmons, May Play Against the Saints on Sunday
It appears that the Miami Dolphins are ready to welcome Lawrence Timmons back into the fold.
The Dolphins could have suspended the linebacker for up to four weeks without pay after he missed their matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers without informing them. However, they have opted to bring him back after just one game because they believe that they have already made their point.
Timmons apologized for his actions on Wednesday, but he didn't really explain why he went missing in the first place.
"I just want to say sorry to all the fans, the Miami Dolphins, to everyone. Happy to be back here. Sorry to the organization. I'm just happy to be a Miami Dolphin. I just want to play football and be the best I can," Timmons said, via the Miami Herald.
According to the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero, the suspension will cost Timmons the $4.5 million in guaranteed money he was set to receive in 2018. Now the Dolphins will have the option to cut him next season if he underperforms.
Timmons was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, and he will likely suit up for the team when they take on the New Orleans Saints at Wembley Stadium in London this Sunday. Dolphins head coach Adam Gase has yet to confirm that, though.
Still, they could really use his presence in the lineup because Mike Hull has been struggling lately.
Meanwhile, it seems that his teammates are welcoming him back with open arms even though he abandoned them before their season opener.
"He's well-liked in the locker room, so guys are happy to see him back. He's just got to come back and do his job. It's not hard," quarterback Jay Cutler said, according to the Miami Herald. "He's going to come in and do everything he has to do," he added.
