Michael Boggs Debuts Solo Album 'More Than Moved'
Newly signed in:ciite artist Michael Boggs debuted his first solo album, entitled More Than Moved, with his new label on Tuesday.
Boggs is an original member of the highly successful Christian rock band FFH. He contributed to seven No.1 radio singles, seven Dove Award nominations, and millions of record sales throughout his time with the band since 1999. After they took an extended break in 2006, he launched his career as a full-time singer/songwriter and worship leader.
"FHH took a break because we needed one," he explained. "After almost 10 years of constant traveling, we were just tired. When talking to our counselor, he asked us what emotion we would feel if someone told us that FFH would stop traveling tomorrow. All of us said unanimously, 'relief.'"
Since then, Boggs has leant is songwriting talent to artists such as Diamond Rio, Big Daddy Wave, Anthony Evans, Josh Bates, and Jason Crabb, just to name a few. He was nominated for Songwriter of the Year at the Dove Awards back in April of this year. He walked away with an award for Country Recorded Song of the Year for his song, "Somebody like Me."
Boggs took on the role of worship leader at a young adult gathering, called Kairo, hosting more than 1,500 young adults every week. He also has been a regular guest worship leader at Max Lucado's church, Oak Hills, in San Antonio, Texas. His first single "Said and Done" is featured on Lucado's new album, Max Lucado: Out Live Your Life.
After lending his talents to well-known bands and fellowships across the country, Boggs focused his song writing ability to his own album. More Than Moved, a soft rock inspirational worship album showcases Boggs' ability to stand alone with his words and music. Aside from track five ("In You"), out of a 12-track album that features Christy Nockels, the album shows off Boggs' talent in his solo artistry.
The album is filled with encouraging words for listeners to stand strong in their faith, and be "more than moved." Inspired by his personal struggle to do more than just be moved by sermons, leaders, and music, Boggs wanted to be active with his faith. After he and his wife, Keely, visited numerous churches and heard countless sermons, they were led to be "more than moved."
"Our prayer was to not be stirred by emotions that never led to actions but to really respond obediently to what Christ was asking us to do," he said. "Here's an excerpt from the album: 'We've all heard sermons that have inspired us. We've all been in conversations that have given us a thousand different ideas to act out what we believe.'"
More Than Moved is an album for those who may need that extra push into the greatness of God.
"For the kingdom's sake. For heaven's sake. It's time to be more than moved."
