Michael C. Hall Divorce Finalized
Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter, starts of Showtime’s “Dexter” finalized their divorce today.
The pair, married three years, play brother and sister on “Dexter,” Showtime’s hit series about a serial killer. Hall plays title character “Dexter,” while Carpenter plays his sister, “Debra.”
Hall began his TV career playing “David Fisher” on HBO’s “Six Feet Under.” When that ended he started on “Dexter.” In 2010 Hall won the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for his performance on the series.
Carpenter became known for playing the title character in 2005’s “The Exorcism of Emily Rose,” which earned her an MTV Award. After this she began on “Dexter.” Both Hall and Carpenter have starred on Broadway at various times.
The couple’s separation became public in 2010, when the couples’ representatives issued a joint statement: “Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce.”
The separation sparked rumors that Hall was having an affair with actress Julia Stiles. She adamantly denied any such relationship and insisted that they were just co-stars.
“I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer,” Stiles stated.
Multiple reports state that Hall is dating Vanessa Abrue, a 25-year-old woman who works for Showtime. Carpenter, meanwhile, has not been linked to anyone. Those close to the case describe the divorce as amicable; the couple has no children.
In 2010, Hall revealed that he has Hodgkin’s lymphoma; since then, he has been in remission.
