Michael Gungor Band Signs with EMI, Joins Worship Together Artists

The Michael Gungor Band has signed an exclusive publishing agreement with EMI CMG Publishing and joined the roster of Worship Together artists, whose music and resources are available online.

As a full-service publisher, EMI CMG Publishing represents more than 35,000 songs and 300 writers, including Chris Tomlin, Smokie Norful, Steven Curtis Chapman, Jeremy Camp, Matt Redman, Leeland and Thousand Foot Krutch, to name a few.

EMI CMG Publishing also administers catalogues for top-selling artist/writers such as Third Day, Casting Crowns and TobyMac.

"Michael Gungor truly brings a refreshing sound and style to worship music," Eddie DeGarmo, president, EMI CMG Publishing, said of the singer, songwriter and worship leader. "His lyrics are deep like a seasoned worship leader, combined with a musical style that is profound yet youthful in appeal."

In addition to the two Vertical Music solo recordings, Gungor's credits also include the popular worship song "Friend Of God" the he co-wrote with Israel Houghton.

The Michael Gungor Band, which Gungor fronts, currently hosts "Bloom," an outreach service in downtown Denver. The group's debut recording, All I Need Is Here, will release Oct. 9.

Regarding the band's new partnership with Worship Together, Gungor said they are excited, "not only because they do such an incredible job resourcing the church with songs, but they also continue to move forward with our culture."

"It is important to us to partner with a company that isn't afraid of taking risks or trying new things," he commented, adding also that the people at EMI CMG "are great at that."

Named 2006 Christian Music Publisher of the Year by ASCAP and Billboard Magazine, EMI CMG Publishing continues to be an industry leader in Christian Music throughout the world.

EMI CMG Publishing is a part of Brentwood, Tennessee-based EMI Christian Music Group, which was formed in 1994. It is the world's largest Christian music company, and is a unit of EMI Music, the third largest music company in the world.
