Fans and celebrities have expressed their respects Monday on the 3-year anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.
Hailed as the King of Pop, Jackson died on June 25, 2009 from cardiac arrest after the actor's propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. His death was later ruled as involuntary manslaughter with Jackson's personal physician, Conrad Murray, charged with the crime.
The music icon's death at age 50 was met with an outpourign of grief and remembrance that extends until today. Each year, social media outlets are flooded with messages on the anniversary of his death.

Monday, trending topics on Twitter include both RIP Michael Jackson and #RIPMJ. Moreover, the pop star's death has seen dozens of celebrities commemorating his accomplishments.
"RIP Michael Jackson," wrote rapper Usher on Twitter Monday. "You will never die in our hearts, your legacy will live on forever!"
Another rapper, Wiz Khalifa, posted, "3 years ago today the world lost a legend. RIP Michael Jackson. Your music lives on for you. Thank you for everything!"
Fans such as Joel recalled Jackson's incredible music career, writing, "RIP Michael Jackson. You shared your unbelievable talent and kind heart with the world. You've left your mark and you'll never be forgotten."

He left behind daughter Paris and sons Michael Joseph Jackson, also known as Prince and Blanket Jackson.
