Michael Jordan Selling $29 Million Chicago Mansion
Michael Jordan, former Chicago Bulls superstar and current owner of the Charlotte Bobcats, is in the news again -- but this time not for his athletic prowess or strategic ownership decisions. The legendary Bulls guard is selling his family home in Chicago's Highland Park. According to the Chicago Tribune, Jordan's estate is listed at $29 million, making it the most expensive house in the Chicago area.
The estate boasts an expansive 6,000 square feet which is made up of 15 bathrooms, nine bedrooms, five fireplaces, and an indoor basketball complex with a custom sound and lighting systems. And that's not all, Jordan's estate contains a swimming pool, tennis court, putting green, pond as well as multiple climate controlled garages that can hold a total of 15 cars. There is also the nearby three-bedroom guest house. All of this luxury is situated along the shore of Lake Michigan.
The Jordan estate was built in the middle of the 1990s. The six-time NBA Champion lived in this Highland Park mansion with his now ex-wife Juanita and their three children, Jeffrey Michael, Marcus James and Jasmine Mickael. Juanita Jordan now lives in Chicago's River North neighborhood. In 2007, she bought an impressive mansion of her own that contains 23 rooms and sold for $4.7 million.
According to The Associated Press, the Hall of Fame athlete now lives in Jupiter, Fla., in a mansion in an exclusive golf community called "The Bears Club." This puts Michael Jordan slightly closer to North Carolina and his team, the Charlotte Bobcats. He reportedly paid $12 million for that Florida mansion.
Real estate broker of Baird & Warner Real Estate, Katherine Chez Malkin, listed the Chicago area estate earlier this week. She told the Kansas City Star, "The target buyer is someone who would appreciate the privacy and luxury of the property, as well as its myriad and exceptional features and amenities."
