Michael Schumacher Recovery a Miracle; F1 Driver Wakes From Six-Month Coma
Michael Schumacher has made a miraculous recovery after hitting his head on Dec. 29, 2013. He has been comatose, unresponsive, and doctors often gave a grim prognosis. However, he has now been released from the hospital where he has been since December and is reportedly communicating with his family.
"He is not in a coma anymore," a statement from the Formula One racer's representative said today. He will be transferred to a treatment center in Switzerland "to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. His family would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months."
Schumacher's family remained by his side while he recuperated, never giving up hope that he would make a full recovery. Doctors have not said what they expect from Schumacher or if he will ever be the same again, but the fact that he is able to be transferred to a rehabilitation facility is a good sign.

"The family also wishes to thank all the people who have sent Michael all the many good wishes. We are sure it helped him. For the future, we ask for understanding that his further rehabilitation will take place away from the public eye," the statement concluded.
Friends and fans took to social media to offer their best to Schumacher and congratulate the family on overcoming a huge hurdle.
"Schumacher out of coma & out of hospital … just in time for Germany's 1st game of this World Cup. Inspiration," tweeted former England captain Rio Ferdinand.
"Best news ever," driver James Calado tweeted. "Michael Schumacher is out of his coma. Couldn't be more happier right now! So good!"
It's clear that Schumacher will have all the support he needs to recover, even if he is out of the public eye. No one is giving up on the driver.
