Michelle Duggar's Sister Is a Lesbian Who Does Not Support Gay Marriage
Michelle Duggar of the hit show "19 Kids and Counting" reportedly has a lesbian sister that does not believe in gay marriage, which is in standing with the Christian family's traditional values.
"I have an aunt who has chosen to live that life and I love my aunt," eldest son Josh Duggar said during a political radio show last year.
The aunt in question is Michelle Duggar's sister, Evelyn Ruark, who lives with her partner Sharon Callahan, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Although the two have been together for some time, Ruark reportedly does not believe in gay marriage.
"I think she is an amazing person," Josh added. "She believes that marriage is between one man and one woman."
Josh currently works as the executive director of the Family Research Council Action and led a rally against homosexual marriage in his home state of Arkansas in November, where he spoke passionately about the First Amendment and the preservation of heterosexual marriage.
"Arkansans should not face the threat of fines or being sued for living out the deeply-held convictions of their faith," Josh said in a press release before the rally. "We have the First Amendment in this nation, and we have the right to live out our faith. The rally will send a strong reminder to Arkansas Supreme Court Justices that an overwhelming majority of voters, 75 percent, voted to preserve marriage as the union of a man and a woman."
The Duggar family came under fire for allegedly removing images of homosexual couples kissing that were posted on their official Facebook page. A petition started to try and get the wildly successful "19 Kids & Counting" show off of TLC was not successful and show patriarch Jim Bob spoke out about the campaign in Nov.
"We love everybody, but we don't always agree with them. They won't succeed. Our show is the number one show on TLC. It's a small group creating this fuss. All it has done is give us more exposure. We've gained 50,000 Facebook fans last week. God is expanding our border through the national media," he explained.
