Michelle Obama's Hair Highlights Makes Waves
Michelle Obama made a surprising change to her hair this week, adding caramel-colored highlights.
Taking a page out of the latest trend books, Mrs. Obama debuted sun-kissed curls in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, according to People.com.
The curls involve just the ends of the hair being lightened in what is referred to as the "ombre" hairstyle akin to that of Jessica Alba and Drew Barrymore.
The First Lady's curled bob hairstyle was accentuated by the side-swept bangs' caramel highlights, and Twitter users have given the look a stamp of approval.
"Beautiful in every which way," posted Dianne. "Michelle Obama's highlights are perfect."
Alyssa added, "I don't want to sound like a girl… but @MichelleObama new hair color is beautiful! It really suits her big time!"
Meanwhile, it comes as no surprise that the First Lady's new hairstyle has made waves online this week.
Earlier this year when Obama debuted bangs, social media become flooded with responses, and even President Obama commented on the hairstyle, saying he loved the bangs.
"She looks good," said the President of his wife at the time. "She always looks good."
Alternately, Chanel's creative director and acclaimed designer Karl Lagerfeld did not agree with the U.S. Commander in Chief.
"I don't understand the change of hair," started Lagerfeld speaking to the French television station Canal Plus about Mrs. Obama's bangs. "Frankly, the fringe was a bad idea. It's not good."
Nevertheless, it is not only the First Lady whose hairstyles are scrutinized, and what is more, Obama is one of many high-profile women to experiment with bangs recently. Other celebrities with bangs today include Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Reese Witherspoon.
Despite fans' positive reactions to Garner's haircut, the actress admitted to having bad hair days- with or without her new bangs.
"[My hairstylist] taught me that letting my hair dry naturally- which is what I do every single day- is good for it… but it's not always going to look good," said the actress speaking to Redbook magazine.
"Pulling out the blow-dryer and the curling iron really does make a difference. But to be perfectly honest, I don't even know where the hair dryer is in my house," Garner continued.
