Michelle Obama on 'Late Night With David Letterman' Tonight
First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" for Monday night.
The wife of the U.S. President will discuss her initiative, Joining Forces, which supports military personnel and their families. Mrs. Obama will also open up about her plans for the program's one-year anniversary in April.
Joining Forces is an effort to educate and encourage people to take action in ensuring that military families have the support that they have earned.
Monday will mark the first time Mrs. Obama will talk with Letterman on the late-night talk show.
The episode will also feature a performance by Grammy Award winner Esperanza Spalding.
"The Late Show with David Letterman" airs on CBS Monday at 11:30 p.m. EST.
Earlier on Monday, Mrs. Obama visited military families in Minnesota and praised the state's efforts to support the families of servicemen and women.
"I want to make sure that the rest of the nation understands how you work as a state, how your organizations come together, the needs of our military families and how organizations can serve them," said Obama during her visit.
The First Lady has appeared on popular talk shows in the past, including "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in February when she made headlines by winning the push-up contest.
Promoting her "Let's Move" campaign, the 48-year-old completed 25 push-ups while on the talk show.
Mrs. Obama, who targeted school lunches and childhood obesity, has also incorporated faith and community into her health campaign. Launched in Nov. 2010, the First Lady has since enlisted faith-based organizations onto the anti-obesity crusade. She has praised organizations across the country for participating in "Let's Move," from Jewish community gardens to Muslim sports tournaments.
