Michelle Obama Receives Birthday Poem From Beyoncé Knowles
Michelle Obama celebrated her 49th birthday on Thursday and received a poem from Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé Knowles to honor her special day.
Obama, the first lady of the United States, was the subject of the "news" section on the singer's personal website, beyonce.com. In a post titled "Happy Birthday First Lady Michelle Obama," the singer wrote a poem to describe Mrs. Obama.
"Happy Birthday to a beautiful soul. Happy Birthday to a leader. Happy Birthday to a force. Happy Birthday to a ray of light," the singer wrote. "Happy Birthday to an inspiration. Happy birthday to our first lady, Michelle Obama."

Knowles, 32, ended the post in a letter format by saying "Respect, Always & Forever, Beyoncé."
The post is not the first that the singer has written for Obama on her personal website. Knowles posted a handwritten letter on her website last April to speak about the inspiration that she received from the first lady of the United States of America.
"No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope – she's humble, loving, and sincere. She builds and nurtures her family, while also looking out for so many millions in so many ways," Knowles wrote. "I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."
Last September, President Barack Obama compared Beyonce to his wife when Knowles and her husband hosted a fundraiser last September for the presidential election. At the event that took place at rapper Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in New York City, Obama likened his wife to that of the music mogul's.
"To Jay and Bey, thank you for your friendship," Obama told the couple. "Jay knows what my life is like. We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are."
Knowles and her husband have developed a relationship with the Obamas for years and the singer performed at his inauguration in 2009.
