Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton Ads, Wows Fans

Michelle Williams is the new face of Louis Vuitton after an edgy ad campaign for the luxury brand was released Wednesday.

The 32-year-old actress is well known for portraying unusual, troubled characters in films such as "Blue Valentine," but she is also able to fill lighter roles including her latest "Oz" film.

As a result of her acting talent and versatility, Louis Vuitton decided to partner with Williams in a set of ads this year.

"Michelle Williams was selected by Louis Vuitton for her independent spirit with which she has forged her path through Hollywood," the brand said in a statement. "Defined by her outstanding talent, her passion for her craft, and her choice of daring and challenging roles."

Marking the actress' first major fashion campaign, the ads are due out in magazines in September. She will be featured with the brand's "Capucines" bag as well as its "W" bag, among others, according to People magazine.

Two examples of Williams' ads hit the internet on Wednesday, causing the actress' fans to take to Twitter with their reactions.

"Michelle Williams is stunning in the new @LouisVuitton ads," wrote The Cut.

Lucky magazine added, "This might be the best we've ever seen Michelle Williams look- and dude, she ALWAYS looks good!"

Williams is not the first star Louis Vuitton has employed in their campaigns. Madonna, Angelina Jolie and Miss Piggy have all been featured in ads for the brand.

Meanwhile, Williams is currently filming the movie "Suite Francaise" before beginning work on "The Double Hour" later this year.

The busy actress is also mother to 8-year-old Matilda Ledger- whom she shared with the late Heath Ledger. Williams dated the "Dark Knight" star for three years until 2007.

In the past, Williams explained that her signature blonde cropped hair serves as an homage to Ledger, who died from prescription drug intoxication in 2008.

"I cut it for the one straight man who has ever liked short hair and I wear it in memorial of somebody who really loved it," Williams said of Ledger while speaking to Elle magazine during an interview in 2011.
