Microsoft Gaming News: Microsoft Announces 4 Free Games in June
After Sony beat them to the draw in announcing their "Games with Gold" this June, Microsoft has officially announced four free games that will come to Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners this coming month, according to a Tech Times report.
Owners of the older Xbox 360 consoles will be able to download two titles for free next month. The first title is "Thief," which is described as a "first-person stealth game." In the game, players control Garrett who is a master thief who goes on a series of missions which basically involves stealing from the rich. The second title is the more popular open-world adventure game called "Just Cause 2." This game is the precursor of the upcoming title "Just Cause 3," which is planned to be released later this year. Offering this game for free is likely part of the promotional campaign for the new game.
"Just Cause 2" will be available from June 1 to 15, while "Thief" will be free from June 16 until the end of the month.
Xbox One owners get the disappointing end of the deal this coming month. The report notes that only one new game will be available for free in June. This will be Double Fine's "Massive Chalice," which initially available on PC through Steam's Early Access, but will be arriving on the Xbox One this June. "Massive Chalice" is a Kickstarter funded strategy game picked up by Microsoft. In this game, players need to "make alliances and arrange marriages in order to carry on the family name and create new warriors" who will take over when older heroes are ready to retire.
The other game that will be free is one that has been free since April. "Pool Nation FX" will still be available as free downloadable game until the end of June, so those who have yet to download it may still do so without paying.
There are a few days left to download the free games for May such as the "F1 2013" for the Xbox 360 and "Castlestorm: Definitive Edition," for the Xbox One. One needs to be an Xbox Gold subscriber to avail of these free downloads.
