Microsoft 'HoloLens' news: Nadella says release will be next year 'for developers'
As fans continue to save up for the alleged "computer of the future," Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has announced that the "HoloLens" will be out next year but only "for developers."
While some rumors suggest that the player or consumer version will probably be out by 2020, Nadella only said that the version for fans will take longer to be released than next year's "developer only" version launch.
In his most recent interview with BBC, Nadella said, "We will have developer versions of it first, and then it will be more commercial-use cases, and then it will evolve. This is a five-year journey. We are looking forward to getting a v1 out, which is more around developers and enterprises, and you know it's in the Windows 10 timeframe, which means that it is within the next year."

The excitement and hype continues to haunt fans, and developers' rumors of the HoloLens turning out to be the next Google Glass have surfaced. When asked about his opinion about the rumor, Nadella said, "I don't want to overhype it like Google Glass and say this is the next big thing. I want us to deliberate about what it is."
Further sharing his insight about the speculations, the exec noted that the team already had the HoloLens in their list when they purchased Minecraft. This resulted to the HoloStudio where one can create objects and print them with a 3D printer.
The HoloLens is a standalone and wireless device that could allow for enhanced convenience and use even while walking, jogging, or cooking. Popularly known as "augmented reality," the device combines a lifestyle for consumers that brings virtual reality into human reality.
Meanwhile, some sad news is on the way as an anonymous Microsoft exec told the New York Times that the "future PC" will actually cost "significantly more" than Xbox One.
While there is still no release date given for the consumer version, it is expected that developers will come up with a demo for fans to see how the device works once it is released next year.
