Microsoft Reveals First 13 Original Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Titles
Xbox One owners are in for a huge treat this week. Yesterday, Microsoft revealed the titles of all the 13 backward-compatible original Xbox games for Xbox One, which will be available starting today. According to the tech giant, all games will come in 1080p resolution and will feature speedier loading times and smoother frame rates.
Starting Oct. 24, Xbox One owners can play a mix of new first party and third party titles, including "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic," "Ninja Gaiden Black," "Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge," "Fuzion Frenzy," "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," "Psychonauts," "Dead to Rights," "Black," "Grabbed by the Ghoulies," "Sid Meier's Pirates," "Red Faction II," "BloodRayne 2," and "The King of Fighters Neowave."
Like backward-compatible Xbox 360 games, those who still have their original Xbox disc with them simply need to insert it into their Xbox One console in order to play their desired game. After insertion, they will find the game automatically downloading to their hard drive. The titles will also work for Xbox One owners who have the titles digitally. Meanwhile, Xbox One owners who do not have any of these games may purchase digital copies of them from the Xbox Store for only $9.99.

Unlike the original versions of the games, which look ancient, their Xbox One versions look far better with sharper textures and better aliasing. The only disadvantage, however, is that the 13 titles do not support online multiplayer. The good news though is that they support System link, so players who are playing on different Xbox consoles can still play with one another. In old-school LAN parties, Xbox, Xbox One, and Xbox One X players can even face each other while playing.
According to Microsoft, the 13 new titles make up just the first wave of titles that are coming to Xbox One, so owners of the console can expect a steady stream of title releases in the coming months.
