Microsoft Surface Pro 5: October Launch for Hybrid Tablet Is Most Ideal Date, Analysts Say
Microsoft is gearing up for the official launch of the Creators Update for Windows 10 this month. Is the Surface Pro 5 among the list of hardware rumored to be rolling out along with the upcoming Windows 10 update?
TechRadar speculates that this may not be the case since the Redmond-based tech company seems to be set on introducing a brand-new device category instead. A spring release may not be possible for the next-generation Surface Pro tablet, but tech enthusiasts are still holding out hope that if it does fail to make a showing this month, it may still be released at a much later date.
A possible October release seems to be the consensus at the moment, as it was last year. And since 2016 only saw the release of the Surface Studio and the Surface Book i7, speculations are rife that this year may finally see the highly anticipated Surface Pro 5 during Microsoft's next launch event.
Analysts have reportedly pointed at October as a more ideal time to launch new hardware like the Surface Pro 5 since the Creators Update of Windows 10 will have been fully and globally released by then, and the rumored 2-in-1 tablet can then take advantage of the company's newest software adjustments.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to come with 16 GB random-access memory (RAM) and up to 512 GB storage capacity. It could also come with USB Type-C support along with a better battery life; a rechargeable Surface Pen; the designer-focused, puck-like accessory known as the Surface Dial; and a possible fingerprint scanner.
The table is also rumored to come in two variants, each powered by a different high-end chipset. One variant could run on Intel's seventh-generation Kaby Lake chip, while the second variant could be powered by AMD's latest chip, Ryzen.
So far, there has been no official announcement from Microsoft regarding an alleged Surface Pro 5 2017 release.
