Microsoft Team: Users May Get Free Laptop in Case Windows 10 Update Fails
If your PC is having trouble in upgrading to Windows 10, this could be a good news for you. Microsoft Team promises to give away a Dell Inspiron 15 for free if they fail to upgrade your own laptop.
The deal, however, is only limited to certain conditions. Basically, the offer is only free in the US, which means that only users in US are qualified for the deal. Users will have to go to participating Windows Stores nationwide. Their laptop must also be compatible for the upgrade, and at the same time, laptops must be running Windows 8 or higher. Users must also go to the store before 12 noon, local time.
In case of failure in upgrading, users will not only receive free laptop, but will receive a $20 discount on Office 365 Home as well.

"To be eligible for trade-in, you must own the qualifying device, device must power on, battery must hold charge and not be required to be plugged in to operate, and be in fully functional, working condition without broken/missing components, cracked display/housing, liquid damage, modification(s) or have device warranty seal broken to be considered working," Microsoft said.
As for users with non-compatible laptops, Microsoft said they will be recycling the laptops and will give the users "$150 towards the purchase of a new PC."
The offer is said to be the latest strategy Microsoft has made in order to convince users in upgrading to the latest operating system.

In June 2016, Windows 10 had a total share of 19.14 percent in the operating system market, while Windows 7 is still the leading with 49.05 percent.
The Microsoft team had announced last year that they are planning Windows 10 to run in over 10 billion devices in 2018. However, they previously admitted that the goal is never likely to happen.
In September 2014, Windows 10 was unveiled, followed by a public beta testing process in October 2014. The Windows 10, which is designed with software and hardware compatibility had its consumer release last year, July 29, 2015. The team had offered a free upgrade and is set to end on July 29, 2016, a year after its release.
At the end of the free upgrade, Windows 10 will then be purchased with an estimated retail price of $119. The Pro version will be $199, and upgrading from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro will cost $99.
