Microsoft's 'Surface Pro 4' rumored to have Intel's latest processor, Skylake
Microsoft will launch its Surface Pro 4 in October this year and it will be made available to the public sometime in November. Intel has just showcased its new Skylake processor and it shouldn't be a surprise if Surface Pro 4 comes with the Skylake processor.
This will give the Surface Pro 4 two advantages right away. Firstly, the Skylake would give Surface Pro 4 the ability to handle 4K video output at 60 frames/second. Secondly, Surface Pro 4 can boast of Intel's brand new processor, which high-end users will definitely appreciate.
The Surface Pro 4 will probably have two types of RAMs. The cheaper model will have 4 GB of RAM while the higher-end model will have 8 GB. With regards to storage, the lower-end model would probably have 128 GB while the higher-end models will have 256 GB or maybe even 512 GB. There are also reports that the device might have a 2,160 x 1,440 pixel resolution display and both lower and higher-end versions might be running on Windows 10.
Microsoft will make its Surface Pro 4 similar to that of the one-year older Surface Pro 3 by making the docking station and other accessories currently on Surface Pro 3 compatible with Surface Pro 4. It will become slimmer and lighter and come with a 14-inch display to counter Apple's rumored iPad Pro.
According to a Design & Trend report, "it will also apparently come with Xbox game streaming." The super-slim size would mean that all hard drives would be Solid State (SSD) that should speed up the streaming.
Another report from the Business Insider states that the company might also include a new Surface Pen with the Surface Pro 4 after Microsoft was able to buy N-Trig, a company which specializes in stylus technology.
Rumors are rife that Microsoft will launch the Surface Pro 4 along with its 'Surface Pro Mini tablet', expected to feature an 8-inch display. This tablet will compete with iPad Mini 2 and Google Nexus tablets.
