'Middle-Earth: Shadow of War' Free Mobile Game Now Available
The developers of "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War" is working up the hype for their game by releasing a free version on mobile devices. "Middle-earth: Shadow of War Mobile" is now out on Google Play and Apple Store.
This mobile version of the main "Middle-Earth: Shadow of War" follows a more straightforward path to the story, as players forge a team out of their favorite "Lord of the Rings" heroes, take down some Orcs, and eventually work their way up to the dark lord Sauron.
The action role-playing game plays much like a real-time strategy game, as Gamespot notes. Players have more options on the field with the powerful abilities of heroes like the main character Talion and Celebrimbor, alongside classics like Gandalf and Gimli.
The new form of Shelob, now in the form of a woman, is also featured as well. Characters like Shelob, Galadriel and Gollum have been some of the favorites of the Monolith team, who prefers their ambiguity to the straight morality of the main characters.
They have been pitching Shelob as a counterpart to Galadriel, hence their decision to remake her image. "So you've got Shelob representing darkness and then you've got Galadriel representing light," creative vice president Michael de Plater explained.
"So you've got a duality between these two powerful women basically opposing each other in the same way that there's a lot of duality in our game," de Plater added, as quoted by Eurogamer.
Players rally their team of heroes, with some unusual alliances like Gollum fighting alongside Gandalf as a result. The goal is to collect the Rings of Power and eventually topple Sauron in straightforward battle, as well as behind enemy lines with the mobile game's version of the Nemesis system.
