'Midnight, Texas' Season 2 Release Date Rumors: Will NBC Order The Show's Second Season?

The first season of "Midnight, Texas" officially concluded on NBC, but the network has yet to announce their plans for the show's season 2.

The supernatural drama series based on the book written by Charlaine Harris premiered on NBC in July. Its 10^{th and final season 1 episode will be on Monday, Sept. 18.}

It centered on the adventures of a young psychic named Manfred Bernardo (François Arnaud), who relocated to Midnight, Texas at the request of the ghost of his grandmother for his safety.

Once he arrived in the mysterious town, Manfred encountered a lot of diverse characters such as a vampire named Lem Bridger (Peter Mensah), the witch named Fiji Cavanaugh (Parisa Fitz-Henley), and a fallen angel named Joe Strong (Jason Lewis), among others.

According to reports, the first season of "Midnight, Texas" had an average viewership of 3 million in all its 10 episodes. In its premiere episode, the show had been watched by a total of 3.6 million viewers, while its season finale was watched by 3.4 million viewers. It also has a 0.7 demo rating in the 18 to 49 age demographics.

While the numbers may not be remarkable if the show aired during the fall or spring season, it could be enough for the network to consider it for another summer season.

Showrunner Monica Owusu-Breen sat down with IndieWire to discuss how season 2 of "Midnight, Texas" will look like if NBC will give it a go.

"I know what [Season 2] is and it's been cued up in multiple ways, whether it's with Madonna (Kellee Stewart), whether it's with Olivia and the effects of drinking vampire blood, or Manfred and having taken in the demons, and then who is behind the building of the motel," the showrunner stated. "That's a whole other story. So I kind of have an idea, especially with Charlaine's second book as a guide — what that story can be and what are the character arcs that will advance the story of Midnight, Texas."

NBC is expected to make their decision about the renewal of "Midnight, Texas" for season 2 in the coming days.
