Miesha Tate UFC Retirement News 2015: Former bantamweight title contender contemplating retirement due to frustration

Former two-time women's bantamweight title contender Miesha Tate is not pleased with the way the UFC has been running things.

"Cupcake" was promised a third shot at Ronda Rousey's title by company president Dana White himself, after she defeated Jessica Eye at UFC on FOX 16 in July. Unfortunately, top management decided to go for former professional boxer Holly Holm instead.

Holm now faces Rousey on November 15th at UFC 193 at the Etihad Stadium in Australia. Tate, on the other hand, was left passed over and frustrated.

In a report by MMA Fighting, she aired out all her sentiments during Monday's edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.

"I understand they have a job to do. They want to promote, they want to make fights that sell. I get it. But this is also my life and I'm not a robot and I'm not a puppet, and I'm not going to stand for something that I don't feel right about, that I don't agree with."

To make matters worse, Tate, nor he management team were informed about the sudden change of plans. Instead, they only found out about it through Rousey's announcement on "Good Morning America".

"To wake up to that, it was almost like waking up to still being in a nightmare. I felt like I wasn't even sure if I was quite awake yet. Like, 'am I still sleeping? What is going on right now?' I'm half-dazed and I'm trying to take it all in, and I just felt extremely overwhelmed."

Because of the recent turn of events, Tate says she is now seriously contemplating about her future.

"I need to know for myself, for my career, what my next move is going to be. And I have some more demands that I want to make. I realize that Ronda is making a lot, and I just feel like when I walk out for my weigh-ins, when I walk out for my fights, I have an amazing fanbase."

"So the UFC needs to kind of wake up and smell the coffee and make something work," she added.

According to UFC.com's fighter rankings, Tate sits at the number two spot; right below bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Holm, on the other hand, sits at the number seven spot.
