Miguel Facing Legal Action Over Fan Kick Incident? (VIDEO)
Miguel Jontel Pimentel could face legal action over a failed leap incident which resulted in the singer accidentally kicking a fan at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards.
On May 19 the Grammy award-winning r&b singer, 27, performed his hit single "Adorn" at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. At one point, Miguel attempted to take a flying leap over the heads of unsuspecting fans who were placed in a moshpit, but instead the singer landed on his bottom and kicked Khyati Shah, who is now reportedly considering legal action.
"We will determine that after we have feedback from medical providers," Shah's attorney, Vip Bhola, told E! News, adding that his client has experienced "difficulties" stemming from Miguel's flying kick.
Bhola also confirmed that he had been in contact with Miguel's legal representative, although he is yet to address reports of a possible settlement.
Shortly after the incident, a red-faced Miguel appeared in an interview alongside Shah who he referred to as "[my] new friend" despite them having met under "not the best circumstances."
Shah, who was one of two women who got accidentally kicked by the singer, did not appear to have any visible injuries and laughed throughout the interview.
"Yes they are absolutely OK! He was dancing and hugging them post jump," a Billboard representative onsite in Las Vegas previously told Mashable in an email.
Miguel also took to Twitter shortly after the embarrassing incident and reiterated that Shah was fine after the kick.
"Got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay," a relieved Miguel tweeted.
Despite the incident, Miguel did not stop his high energy performance, but he was seen briefly embracing the second woman that he accidentally kicked and she simply smiled for cameras. It is unclear whether the second woman is also exploring legal options.
