Mika Brzezinski on Miley Cyrus: MSNBC Host Lables Act 'Disturbing' But is Called a Hypocrite for Year Old Photo
MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski has been a thundering critic of Miley Cyrus' Video Music Awards performance in the days since the Sunday night show, but Brzezinski is not free from the criticism that she so freely heaps on Cyrus.
During a segment with Matt Lauer on "The Today Show" Tuesday over the nature of the [performance Lauer said he was surprised over the reactions of some in the entertainment realm.
"I think the only thing that surprises me is that we're surprised," said Lauer, who added that Cyrus was paid for her performance.
Yet, Brzezinski put forth the claim that even for programs and artists known for pushing boundaries, Cyrus was able to cross someone's definition of a line.
"There's pushing the envelope and there's raunchy porn that's disgusting and disturbing, and seeing a 20-year-old young woman in the process of her undoing," Brzezinski told Lauer
Brzezinski already made her opinions clear on MSNBC Monday, when she said, "That young lady, who is 20, is obviously deeply troubled, deeply disturbed ... probably has an eating disorder."
Cyrus' performance broke records for most tweets per minute and the 20-year-old singer's sale are increasing, U.S. News said.
However, Brzezinski may be a bit hypocritical in her denouncement of Cyrus and her act due to a photograph that was taken by Vanity Fair last year, which showed the MSNBC host posing in a highly sexualized position next to her co-host Joe Scarborough.
Yet, Cyrus is not paying attention to the criticism and is now focused on her upcoming wedding to her fiancé Liam Hemsworth, 23.
"Miley hasn't talked about her wedding in ages, but she's started getting excited about it again. She had a bride magazine with her the last time I saw her," a source told HollywoodLife.com.
"As far as I know, there's no date or any plans made but it seems like things are really back on track again for her and Liam," the source revealed.
