Miley Cyrus 'Happiest She's Ever Been' Following Liam Hemsworth Split, Says Father Billy Ray

Miley Cyrus is said to be much happier following her recent split from Liam Hemsworth, according to the singer's father, Billy Ray.

In September, reps for Cyrus, 20, and Hemsworth, 23, confirmed that the pair had called off their engagement and split after three years. While the breakup was reportedly painful for "Wrecking Ball" singer, she acknowledged that parting ways with Hemsworth was in her best interest.

"All I know for sure is I heard my daughter say today she's the happiest she's ever been in her life immediately following [the breakup.] That's when I saw Miley being so happy," Billy Ray told Entertainment Tonight.

"All of a sudden she's like the sun, and when she smiles it's light ... Everything happens for a reason and the main thing for me, as Miley's daddy, is she's happy," he explained.

In February, Cyrus and Hemsworth were rocked with cheating rumors after it was claimed that the "Hunger Games" actor had been caught with actress January Jones, 35. While the rumors were never publicly addressed, the former Disney star was paragraphed without her engagement ring on various occasions shortly after the rumors surfaced, which immediately raised doubts about her engagement.

"Somewhere along the stress and strain of different things I didn't see her smiling as often for a little while," he revealed.

Cyrus recently appeared to confirm that she did in fact do through a dark time with Hemsworth while speaking with Fashion magazine. The pop singer revealed that her new song "Drive" was inspired by her desire to leave the Australian actor in February.

"I wrote it while I was working on Valentine's Day -- emotionally it was such a hard time," Cyrus told Fashion magazine.

"It is about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship," she continued. "It's a time when you want to leave but you can't. It's also about moving on."
