Within minutes, #Bangerz was trending worldwide.

Bangerz will feature Cyrus' latest hit, "We Can't Stop," as well as collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Future and Dr. Luke.

The singer's last album, Can't Be Tamed, was released in 2010, selling over a million copies internationally and introducing a new provocative image for Cyrus, who had previously appeared on the Disney Channel's kid friendly Hannah Montana Show.

While Cyrus appeared in several films including a Nicholas Spark film adaptation, The Last Song, and LOL, she largely stayed out of the music scene, instead making occasional waves when she announced her engagement in 2012 with The Last Song co-start Liam Hensworth, and when Maxim magazine picked her earlier this year as number one for their annual Top 100.

In 2013, Cyrus released her first new single since 2010, "We Can't Stop," whose music video showed a spikey, short-haired and blonde singer partying. This newer image of the singer, combined with a video she released of herself twerking which quickly went viral, has kept Cyrus' name in the news.

Prior to Cyrus' album release, she will be performing at MTV's VMAs, in Brooklyn, New York, on August 25.
