Miley Cyrus New Interview: 'I Made History,' Teen Says
Much has been made about Miley Cyrus' performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, but now the star herself has spoken about the ordeal and the aftermath. In a new interview, the first since the controversial performance, Cyrus boasted that she "made history" and compared herself to other stars.
"You know now … you know what's happened," Cyrus told MTV. "Madonna's done it; Britney's done it. Every VMA performance, anyone that performs … that's what you are looking for. You [are] wanting to make history. Me and Robin [Thicke] the whole time said, 'You know you are about to make history right now?'"
The two definitely did make history, though perhaps not in the way they wanted. Many people were outraged at their behavior and called the performance "lewd" and "awkward." Others, however, could not get enough of Cyrus' antics, and by the next day, two of her singles reached the Top 10 downloaded on iTunes.

Even with all of the aftermath, Cyrus was proud of her decision to go along with the performance and does not regret anything.
"It is an amazing thing that I think now it is three days later and people are still talking about it. They're overthinking it," Cyrus said of her critics. "You're thinking more about it than when I did it. Like I didn't even think about it because that is just me."
Cyrus is incredibly proud of her performance, which garnered 306 tweets per minute, setting a new all-time record, beating out the Superbowl or the Superbowl blackout. Her father, famed country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has said that he is proud of his daughter as well.
"Of course I'll always be here for Miley. Can't wait (to) see her when she gets home," the elder Cyrus told Nancy O'Dell. "She's my little girl, and I'm still her dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change."
