Miley Cyrus' VMA 2013 Shocking Performance Gets Thumbs Up From Billy Ray Cyrus

With all the varied reactions from viewers who witnessed Miley Cyrus' VMA performance, her father Billy Ray was a bit more positive and expressed his support of his daughter and her performance.

Billy Ray tweeted a message of support for the 20-year-old singer after her performance that featured her dancing provocatively with Robin Thicke.

"Thanking God for so many blessings tonight. Continue to pray for world peace. More love ...less hate," Billy Ray posted on his Twitter account soon after the awards show ended.

Cyrus may have rose to fame as a child star as the Disney Channel character Hannah Montana, but she has switched creative gears in music. Cyrus' recent song "We Can't Stop" is not a children's anthem by any means, but an ode to partying, complete with drug references.

However, Cyrus' MTV VMA performance shocked spectators so much that a number of people felt compelled to pray for the singer. During the performance, she stripped down to a nude bikini while gyrating on married R&B singer Robin Thicke, 36.

Cyrus has been public in the past about being baptized in 2005 and wore a purity ring in 2008. Although the singer speaks far less about her Christian values these days, many music fans are still offering to pray for the singer.

"Honestly my heart breaks for Miley Cyrus," one person tweeted after her VMA performance. "She is so far from God in a world that keeps pushing her farther and farther away. Pray for her."

Another person said their parents were concerned for the budding singer after watching the performance.

"Just watched this Miley Cyrus thing with my parents and my ma goes 'that's really unfortunate what happened to that girl, I'll pray for her," the person tweeted.
