Miley's 'W' Cover is Unrecognizable
Miley's W cover is unrecognizable as the "Wrecking Ball" singer appears in scantily clad outfits, bleached eyebrows and significantly longer hair. The 21-year-old entertainer also gave an interview about her new fashion sense that was revealed on the covers, which leaked several days before their public release.
Miley's W cover features the singer nearly unrecognizable in high fashion outfits like a futuristic Alexander McQueen top that descends into almost a bikini-like loincloth bottom. Other shots of Cyrus taken by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott showed in a jet black Balmain leather jumpsuit that is fully unbuttoned.
The entire spread, titled "Miley Cyrus Laid Bare," was written by Ronan Farrow, who also works for MSNBC. In the interview Cyrus discussed why she doesn't mind her formerly clean-cut Disney image as Hannah Montana being destroyed and replaced with a more risqué and uncouth attitude.
"I like that I'm associated with sexuality and the kind of punk-rock [expletive] where we just don't care," she explained. "I just don't get what girls are wearing, everyone to me seems like Vanna White. I'm trying to tell girls, like, '[Expletive] that. You don't have to wear makeup. You don't have to have long hair and big [breasts]. That's not what it's about. It's, like personal style.'"
True to her word, Cyrus was far from long blonde hair, her traditional pixie cut, or even the small twists she was known for in the summer. Her hairstyle for W magazine was longer and wetter looking, akin to Beyonce during her Grammy's performance.
Miley's "Bangerz" tour will begin on Feb. 16, but critics have already surfaced because of her affinity for minority dancers- in her notorious performance with Robin Thicke, for example, all the backup dancers twerking were African-American women, which some say feeds into a stereotype.
"I don't give a [expletive]," Cyrus said. "I'm not Disney, where they have, like, an Asian girl, a black girl and white girl, to be politically correct, and like everyone has brightly colored T-shirts … I'm not making any kind of statement."
"Anyone that hates on you is below you, because they're just jealous of what you have," she added.
