Milwaukee Bucks Acquire Guard Eric Bledsoe from the Phoenix Suns for Greg Monroe and Two Draft Picks
The Milwaukee Bucks have finally found someone who can take the offensive load off Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton's shoulders.
The team has announced that they have acquired point guard Eric Bledsoe from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for center Greg Monroe and two protected draft picks.
"Eric is a dynamic player who brings scoring and toughness to the court while enhancing our young and talented core," Bucks general manager Jon Horst said in a statement confirming the move, via ESPN.
The Suns will get the Bucks' first-round draft pick in 2018 if it is between picks 11–16. If the Bucks keep their pick in 2018, the Suns will get it in 2019 if it is in the range of 4–16, or in 2020 if it falls between picks 8–30. The first-round pick will no longer be protected in 2021 if the Bucks keep their picks in the previous three seasons.
Meanwhile, the Suns will get the Bucks second-round pick in 2018 if it falls between picks 48–60. Otherwise, the Bucks will keep the pick.
Bledsoe will give the Bucks a reliable third option on offense until Jabari Parker returns from his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sometime in February. He will likely start alongside up-and-coming combo guard Malcolm Brogdon with Tony Snell relegated to a reserve role.
"He'll be another great player for us, a guy who can create for others and create for himself on offense," Middleton said, according to ESPN. "I'm excited to play with him. We can do a lot of things. We'll have more ball-handlers on the court at the same time. He's going to be a great for us," he added.
With Monroe gone, John Henson is expected to get the bulk of the minutes at center while Thon Maker will continue to play under 20 minutes per game.
