Milwaukee Bucks Looking to Trade John Henson and Mirza Teletovic

With Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way, the Milwaukee Bucks should compete for a spot in the playoffs once again this season. But it's never too early to start planning for the future.

Antetokounmpo is under contract through the 2020–21 season, so they don't have worry about that. However, Jabari Parker is eligible for a contract extension this offseason and the Bucks will have until Oct. 16 to reach an agreement with the fourth-year forward.

Parker will become a restricted free agent following the season if they can't get him to sign an extension before the season starts, and if he signs a one-year qualifying offer next summer, he will become an unrestricted free agent in the 2019 offseason.

The Bucks can't afford to let him walk away without getting something in return, that's why his contract situation needs to be resolved sooner rather than later. The team still hasn't decided if they are going to give him the contract he wants, but it seems that they are already looking for ways to shed some salary to avoid the luxury tax threshold next season.

According to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the Bucks are trying to move John Henson and Mirza Teletovic to improve their salary cap situation next season, but the Bucks may have to part ways with some future assets if they want to trade away the two veterans in a salary dump.

"Extension talks for Parker will likely go to the Oct. 16 wire, and any deal would nudge the Bucks close to next season's tax. They have discussed dumping John Henson and Teletovic, but teams are squeezing hard, sources say," Lowe said.

Henson and Teletovic are serviceable role players, but it can be argued that they have not really lived up to their contracts. Henson is set to earn a little over $9.5 million next season, while Teletovic is set to receive $10.5 million.
