Mindy McCready Says 'Did Not Kidnap' Son; Expecting Twins?
Rumors that Mindy McCready was missing, after kidnapping her five year-old son Zander, began swirling Wednesday and today reports alleged the singer is pregnant with twins.
McCready told Access Hollywood she is not missing, and said "I am working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out.”
"I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me! There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert," she said.
A missing persons report was filed in Florida on Tuesday because McCready's mother is the legal guardian of the singer's child, according to the Associated Press.
AP reported that McCready has until Thursday to return the child to her mother's house.
A new twist in the story reported that McCready cannot return the boy within the judge’s time frame because she is seven months pregnant.
It is unclear who the father of the baby is.
The country singer lost custody of her son due to her struggle with drugs and depression leading her to try and commit suicide on two separate occasions. The last time occurred in 2008 after she cut her wrists and took pills.
She appeared on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew" in 2010 and spoke of her ordeal to Access in 2010.
"Dr. Drew in giving me a diagnosis, diagnosed me as a person who has co-dependency. The new age term is a 'love addict,'" she said. "It leads you into the wrong relationships and you go from one horrible relationship to another. Then I started drinking too much."
