'Minecraft' Introduces 'The Simpsons' Skin Pack
Microsoft announced "The Simpsons" will be on "Minecraft" for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
The skin pack will feature Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpsons plus 19 other characters from Springfield. PlayStation owners need not to fret because Microsoft added that the pack will soon be available in the said platform and to PCs, tablets and smartphones as well.
Microsoft's Xbox division head Phil Spencer said that they have 17 million Xbox players of "Minecraft" and these people have been requesting for "The Simpsons" family to be in the game. Spencer added that the company is excited about their partnership with Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie Films to bring the famous animated family to the fans. The division head shared that he is looking forward to what the "Minecraft" players will build based on "The Simpsons" characters.

Twentieth Century Fox's executive vice president for sales Roz Nowicki said that similar to "The Simpsons," "Minecraft is a true cultural phenomenon embraced by people of all ages" internationally. The vice president commented that fans of the show will surely enjoy creating a world in the game for the animated family.
In "Minceraft," players can actually build anything they want such as houses, parks and shops but the game does not let you create your own avatar. Microsoft has previously added characters from "Star Wars," "Doctor Who," "Mass Effect," "The Avengers," "Skyrim," and "Halo" for Xbox One platforms.
Last year, Dennis the menace and his dog Gnasher debuted on the PC version of the game. Game developer Frima Studios partnered with "The Beano Comic" to bring Dennis and the rest of the gang to "Minecraft." The company revealed that they will add more characters from the comic book if Dennis will become popular.
"Minecraft" debuted in 2009 and sold 50 million copies under its founders Markus Persson a.k.a. Notch, Carl Manneh and Jakob Porser. The trio reportedly sold game since they are unable to handle its popularity due to the fact that it became a "global phenomenon." Microsoft bought the game for $2.5 billion.
"Minecraft" fans can enjoy playing with "The Simpsons" for a price of $1.99 starting on February.
