'Minecraft' News: Mini Games Inspired by 'Hunger Games' Revealed

The fan favorite video game "Minecraft" is expected to present more challenges to the players.

IGN revealed that Microsoft is going to release new game modes for "Minecraft: Console Editions." The update will bring exciting new features to the game that will include mini games to challenge users.

One of the mini games is called "Battle," which is a made that is similar to the hit film "The Hunger Games." With eight players available to play per battle, the multiplayer mode will fight to survive. Players will be spawned in three different maps, which will have several chests and loot for characters to obtain. The players will have to fight each other for the loot, which will help succeed in the game.

Players have five minutes to roam around and defend themselves from other players. The battle is available in other variations, which allow users to find their friends and partake in a battle together. The game mode also allows for a split screen to accommodate four players.

The developer of the game, Mojang, explained that they have created the update to give more options. The release said, "We wanted it to be super-accessible and fast-paced, so we've tried to keep the focus on rapid tactical thinking and combat: there's no need to craft anything here, and you can loot inventories and equip armour with the tap of a button."

The upcoming mini game is the first of its kind, bringing an interesting twist to the gameplay. The mini game is a free update coming this June for players using Xbox, PlayStation, and Wii U. Players will have access to new maps in the future, for the price of $2.99.

While there has yet to be an official release date for the game, Mojang stated that the trailer for the mini game will soon release.
