Minecraft has been on the desktop PC for a long time, but did eventually release console versions, like that for the PlayStation 3. Since the release of the new next-gen consoles - the PS4 and Xbox One, it was only a matter of time before it was ported on those as well.
Minecraft has now been released for the Playstation 4, the Xbox One, and can be bought for a retail price of $19.99. It is one of the most popular games of the year, and has proven addictive for thousands across the country.
Mojang themselves did not port the game directly, instead handing the title over to 4JStudios for that purpose, but from first reviews they have done a great job.

The console versions are very much similar to the PC version albeith with a different control scheme, with the PC version using a keyboard and mouse combination while the console versions relied solely on the controller.
Mojang's owner and the creator of Minecraft Markus "Notch" Persson has been rumored to have hit a deal with Microsoft regarding the sale of the company for a sum of about $2.5 billion. Fans and supporters of both Persson and the company have been critical about the sale, preferring the indie game company to not be handed to the Microsoft corporation.
Persson himself has not expressed his opinion over the rumors and has kept quiet about the whole affair. Still, his silence has been worrying some fans and have already been speculating that the deal has already been made.
Minecraft is most widely known as an expansive sandbox type game where players are thrown into a randomly generated world with nothing but his bare hands to work with. From there, players will have to gather materials in order to build a shelter, gather food, and survive.
