Ministry Forms Partnership for Scripture Translation Project

A Holland, Mich.-based ministry is forming a strategic partnership in Chad to record Scripture into a cluster of 11 languages in the Guera region of Central Chad.

A Holland, Mich.-based ministry is forming a strategic partnership in Chad with an organization that provide high quality technical support services to Bible translators such as Wycliffe Bible Translators (WBT) and to SIL International (SIL).

Audio Scripture Ministries (ASM), together with JAARS, is supplying equipment for a project to record Scripture into a cluster of 11 languages in the Guera region of Central Chad. The 11 languages have populations between 5,000 and 50,000 people, making this project able to impact hundreds of thousands of lives.

JAARS, which speeds up the Bible translation process by providing quality technical support services and resources. According to Mission Network News, which reported on the partnership, the vision for the project is to record Scripture, Gospel presentations and Old Testament stories on cassette tapes for these languages.

In addition, missionaries envision training nationals to take part in the duplication and distribution of cassette tapes that will be distributed through the local churches and language associations. A workshop is planned to help train people how to distribute and use the cassette program.

Since 1967, ASM has been working with Bible translators, missionaries, and others who recognize the need for scriptures in audio format. The ministry assists projects such as leadership training, evangelism, Bible literacy and others.

According to their mission statement, ASM is “committed to providing the translated Scriptures in audio that all may hear in their own language.”
