Ministry to Mass Mail 'JESUS' DVD to Every Home in America
To celebrate 25 years of ministry, the people behind The JESUS Film Project are taking on another ambitious project after having translated the movie about Jesus life into 857 languages as of April 1, 2004. The ministry, whose goal is to reach every nation, tribe, people and tongue, will now take on the feat of distributing the DVD version of the movie to every house in America.
A docu-drama of Jesus life according to the Book of Luke, The JESUS Film Project has been shown 5 billion times and have led to 127 million salvation decisions since its release in 1979 through Campus Crusade for Christ.
Mel Gibsons The Passion of the Christ is the only other movie that can come close to reaching as many people as The Jesus Film Project has. However, organizers behind distributing the Jesus DVD say the film offers something that The Passion doesntanswers.
"Our focus is to put a copy of the JESUS DVD in every home in America. It doesn't hurt that Americans have been flocking to see Mel Gibson's movie The Passion of The Christ, said Southern Field Director Terry Whitson. "We know "The Passion" is about the last 12 hours...give them the rest of the story. Bring closure to a lot of people [who] are asking questions."
Already, the JESUS DVD has already been mailed to three states made possible through sponsorship from churches and Christian businessmen.
Currently, thousands of volunteers are in the process of mass mailing the DVDs to Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Iowa, North Dakota and Montana. By the end of this year, they will finish mailing the Jesus DVD to 3.8 million homes in North Carolina, according to a state volunteer.
