Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Trade and Roster Rumors: Nate Robinson, Shawne Williams Worked Out for the Wolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves have been inviting a lot of free agents to come over and work out for them lately.

Jason Terry, Perry Jones, Thomas Robinson, Isaiah Canaan, Trey Burke, Anthony Morrow, Alan Anderson and Marcus Thornton have all visited the team in the past couple of weeks as they continue to look for potential candidates to fill their final roster spots.

Terry (signed with Bucks) and Jones (signed with Pelicans) are no longer available, but it looks like they have added a couple of names to their list.

1500 ESPN's Darren Wolfson has reported that point guard Nate Robinson and forward Shawne Williams have also worked out for the Timberwolves recently.

Robinson played under Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau in his lone season with the Chicago Bulls (in 2012–13), and he was a key player for them in the playoffs that year. The five-foot-nine point guard didn't play in the National Basketball Association (NBA) last season, but he wants to make a comeback.

Aside from former Bulls Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson, Robinson also played with Jamal Crawford in high school and they were teammates for three-plus seasons with the New York Knicks.

At this point in his career, Robinson is no longer the athletic, high-flying guard he once was. He may not seem like the type of player Thibodeau wants in his team since he's a liability on defense, but he's a proven scorer and he can give the Timberwolves another option off the bench.

"Having Nate and Jamal off the bench could provide a potent offensive attack. Both players are known for their flashy style of play and ability to come off the bench to put up points in short order," Jarrett Spence said in his column for Dunking with Wolves.

Meanwhile, Williams has bounced around the league and he hasn't played in the NBA since the 2014–2015 season. The former University of Memphis standout has never been a very productive player, so it will be interesting to see if the Timberwolves will give him another chance to play in the NBA.
