Minnesota Vikings NFL Trade Rumors: Cordarrelle Patterson Decides to Sign With Raiders
Fans who want to see Cordarrelle Patterson return to the Minnesota Vikings are going to be disappointed when they hear that he will not suit up for them next season.
The wide receiver/kick returner visited the Washington Redskins, Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders this offseason, but the Vikings were always an option for him. In the end, he chose to sign with the Raiders. The details of the deal were not disclosed by the club.
A lot of football fans actually thought he will end up rejoining the Vikings. Patterson himself tried to convince Vikings general manager Rick Spielman to re-sign him by posting a series of messages on his Snapchat account. He retweeted several messages asking him to stay in Minnesota. Well, those messages on social media were all for nothing because he signed somewhere else.
Many believed that the driving factor behind his decision to leave was the lack of playing time with the Vikings. In an interview with NFL.com's Conor Orr last January, Patterson even admitted that it was really frustrating to sit on the sidelines.
"Two years I spent damn near on the sideline. That's never a good feeling for any player. No player wants to go through that. I need to know if I'm going to play or not. If not, I'll take my talents elsewhere," he said during the interview.
The Vikings selected Patterson in the first round of the 2013 National Football League (NFL) draft and he played with the team for four seasons. During his time in Minnesota, he made the All-Pro first team twice (2013 and 2016) and he was also named to the All-Pro second team in 2015. Furthermore, Patterson was selected to play in the Pro Bowl twice, in 2013 and 2016.
Losing Patterson to the Raiders is a significant blow for the Vikings, but they still have other options in the free agent market.
