Minnesota Vikings Roster, Injury News 2017: Sam Bradford's Knee Injury Could Be Career-Threatening
Minnesota Vikings head trainer Eric Sugarman has previously said that Sam Bradford was just dealing with wear and tear in his twice surgically repaired left knee. However, Fox Sports' Jay Glazer has recently suggested that the injury might be a bit worse than it appeared, and it could put his career in jeopardy.
"Sam Bradford's knee is much worse than people know. There's so much wear and tear in there, and cartilage issues, and constant swelling and pain in there. He doesn't look at it right now as career-ending, but bottom line is if this continues to swell and continues to be painful, Bradford's going to have to look at his knee and make a decision on his career," Glazer said on Sunday, via the Pioneer Press.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has played down the report by saying the knee wasn't "any more serious than what it is." But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero have reported that Bradford has traveled to New York last week to undergo Regenokine treatments for his knee.
"The treatments involve drawing Bradford's blood, spinning it down and then reinjecting it into the knee over five or six days," Rapoport and Pelissero noted in their report.
Bradford has had to deal with swelling and discomfort in his left knee since the team's season opener against the New Orleans Saints and he didn't suit up for the Viking when they took on the Green Bay Packers at home last Sunday. It was the fourth game he has missed this season due to the lingering issue with his knee.
Bradford actually played against the Chicago Bears last Monday, but he struggled badly and he was pulled out of the game after he aggravated his injury.
Sixth-year pro Case Keenum should continue to start at quarterback while Bradford is sidelined.
