'Mirror's Edge Catalyst' Districts and Factions Released
Developer EA DICE has updated the official website of its upcoming title "Mirror's Edge Catalyst" with more information on the fictional city of Glass where the game will take place. The developer also introduces fans and followers to the three main factions interacting in the game.
Central districts
According to the new story page, Glass is the third largest city in Cascadia with nearly five million citizens. The city has at least three central districts. What's introduced so far are Anchor, Downtown, and The View.
Each central district offers something distinct for players.
Anchor with its many tall buildings is home of the the various corporations making up the Conglomerate. The district also houses the affluent and offers establishments that cater to their lifestyle such as nightclubs and shopping centers.
At the very heart of Glass is the central district called Downtown. It is a busy modern place where Elysium Corporation has decided to base its medical research endeavors.
The third district is a residential area for the "upwardly mobile" known as Ocean Glass View or called simply as The View. The purple and fuschia themed area provides peace and relaxation away from the busy and intense Anchor and Downtown.
Main factions
The new story page also provides information on the three main factions of the city: the Conglomerate, the Runners, and Black November.
The Conglomerate group rules the nation of Cascadia. The group is made up of 13 corporations which are in constant power struggle. These include Gabriel Kruger's KrugerSec, Elysium Corp., and Silvine Systems, to name a few.
The faction that openly opposes the ruling group is known as Black November. The resistance movement is the fruit of the November riots a couple of decades before. Then protest leader Rebecca Thane leads this violent leaning group which has been terrorizing the authorities, trying to start a revolution, and targeting both the Conglomerate and their supporters.
Finally, the Runners is the faction protagonist Faith Connors belongs to. The group is described as consisting of "voluntary offGrids." The city's rooftops are their home, and they have been known to act as couriers for the corporations which would rather keep their schemes and plots secret from KrugerSec.
EA DICE previously gave fans an idea of how Faith moves around the city in the reboot. The developer also showcased her new combat moves that don't involve the use of guns unlike the original.
"Mirror's Edge Catalyst" is scheduled to launch on May 24 to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
