'Mirror's Edge' Reboot to Be Revealed at E3 2015

Some fans may be disappointed that the upcoming game "Mirror's Edge" will only be a reboot of the original game, rather than a sequel. Earlier reports sometime in May had the game's developer DICE announcing that they were making a sequel to the parkour-inspired action video game.

According to a report in Polygon, DICE has officially announced that instead of a sequel or a prequel, the new game "Mirror's Edge: Catalyst" is actually a reboot, a fresh start for the game. Sara Jansson, senior producer said, "The first game had a lot of promise. It was unlike anything else in terms of the gameplay and style — it had a unique soul. But as much as we loved that game, we knew it could be more. So that's what we have set out to do as we introduce Mirror's Edge to a new generation."

The developer promises a new experience in gaming, with a "vision that honors the first game - pushing the boundaries of first person movement and diving deeper into the story behind our heroine Faith — but also brings a lot of great new, interesting gameplay and features to the experience for our players," as stated by Jansson.

The main character is Faith, who is a runner. It was critically-acclaimed for its 3D environment and gameplay allowed for greater freedom of movemen with parkour-inspired moves. It was during E3 2013 when EA announced that they were working on what was thought to be a sequel to the first game.

"Mirror's Edge: Catalyst" will be released in early 2016 for next-generation consoles, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as Windows PC.
