Missing Baby Lisa Irwin: Interview With Brothers Canceled by Parents
Attorneys for the family of baby Lisa Irwin have canceled her two older brothers’ interviews with investigators Friday, raising suspicions about their parent’s part in the disappearance of baby Lisa.
The boys, aged 8 and 6, were the half brothers of baby Lisa and were supposed to give authorities DNA samples. They were both interviewed shortly after the disappearance of their sister, Kansas City Police Capt. Steve Young said.
Authorities wanted DNA samples to eliminate them from all the DNA samples taken from their house during a search.
Young said the interview would not be an "interrogation" because the boys "are kids, after all."
The boys were supposed to be interviewed by a child services specialist without a police officer present.
Joe Tacopina, the family's attorney, said the interviews will probably be held sometime next week.
Parents, Deborah Bradley, 25, and Jeremy Irwin, 29, have kept investigators away from the boys in the last couple of weeks. The boys were sleeping with Bradley in her bed the night baby Lisa disappeared, according to reports.
Attorney Cyndi Short was dismissed from the legal team overnight. Reasons for her dismissal are unknown.
Before her termination, Short said the family was exhausted.
"That last few weeks have been exhausting to everyone working on behalf of the Irwin family. It has exhausted Lisa's parents and her friends and family," Short said in a statement. "Therefore, the consensus is we all need a rest until next week."
Lisa Irwin went missing from her Missouri home on Oct. 4. Police have searched her entire home, surrounding areas and even a lake in an attempt to track her down.
No suspects have been identified, and police are still approaching her disappearance as a missing person's case and not a murder case.
